About Master Luthier Chris Camp
In 1976 I began a journey that has led me through a wonderful life experience. Now, some 45 years later, logging countless interactions with people and their musical instruments, I have the skills and tools to advise and guide others, helping them make informed decisions, tackle repair tasks and instrument related activities with a unique depth and background.
Let’s do the math. If I only worked with 2 people a week, and 2 instruments per week, (and it’s a lot more), 48 weeks per year for 45 years, I can safely say I’ve worked on at least four thousand instruments, and interacted with their owners, (successfully I might add).
What this means for anyone seeking assistance from me, is simply that I’ve done the work, endured the missteps, solved the problems, and earned the respect of many musicians and music lovers across most styles of popular, and not-so-popular music.
I understand Acoustic & Electric Fretted Instruments; I’ve taken them apart and put them back together, healed them, refretted them, refinished them, totally restored them, cursed at them, cut my fingers on them, admired and honored them.
I’ve worked on all the major Brands. Let’s take the Great Gibson Company for a moment. I’ve worked on their Acoustics, including Archtops, the legendary Banjos & Mandolins, their amazing electric models, Les Pauls, SG’s the ES series, Melody Makers, vintage Mandocellos and Basses.
How about Fender? Experienced with Strats, Tele’s, Cool Surf models,
All the Fender Basses, Fender Acoustics
C.F.Martin; I’m proud of my thirty year association with the company as an authorized service center.
I’ve worked on all their first line models, their classic vintage guitars, ukuleles, even weirdo stuff like Tiples.
I’ve reset hundreds of necks, fabricated new bridges, solved complex intonation issues, binding repair, refrets, broken headstocks, finish touchup, and on it goes.
Here are a few additional brands I have experience with:
Gretsch, (personal favorite), Guild, (another favorite), Gallagher, Collings, (for whom I’m also an authorized service center)
Taylor, Santa Cruz, Lowden, Larrivee, Goodall, Benedetto, Hofner, Goya, Harmony, Kamaka, Washburn, Lyon & Healy, D’Angelico, Mosrite, Yamaha, Ibanez, Cort, Eastman, Dan Electro, Alvarez, Gianini, Weber, Stelling, Ramirez, Jackson, Charvel, Music Man, Rickenbacker, National, Dobro, Regal, Breedlove, and many more.
My dad always told me; “Son, if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life”. Well, after working my ass off, “never working a day in my life”, I gotta say I still love getting up each day, giving thanks and seeing what’s in store for me.
I learn something new each day, and I look forward to sharing something new with you!
Let’s have some fun and see what I can do to help you too.
